Your light massage might be someone else's deep tissue. The perception of pressure is subjective, so why charge different prices?  Whether you want deep sports work, light relaxation or a combination, one price.

How is this different from [P]rehab Bodywork?

The focus of these sessions is just in the session, you aren't asked to practice movement patterns or go through movement screening, you aren't expected to learn a squat or deadlift pattern, this is just to get your body relaxed and get you back to your life.  This isn't to say it isn't therapeutic, or that I won't throw some education your way,  it is simply not as involved.  Also, you can book 60 minutes, [P]rehab Bodywork is a minimum of 90 minutes per session with an expectation of at least 5 sessions and a lot of work outside of the sessions to bring awareness to your movement patterns.

What is [P]rehab Bodywork?:

TL;DR:  Combing movement education (how to pick up heavy stuff and set it back down again) with hands-on bodywork techniques to help you to reduce pain, improve movement and life-proof your body.

What is Fascia?

Fascia is a structure of connective tissue that surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, and nerves, binding some structures together, while permitting others to slide smoothly over each other.

Fascia (also known as the forgotten organ) is a system-wide tissue essential for the optimum functioning of the body. In fact as more and more research is done on this amazing network, it is becoming abundantly clear that balance, body awareness, pain management, and proper muscle function are intimately tied to correct fascial alignment.  Reducing fascial restrictions is often the missing link in returning  to a pain free and fully functional lifestyle.

[P]rehab Bodyworks focuses on fascial manipulation, increased body awareness, and movement education. It is intended to Improve postural balance and functional ease by aligning and integrating the body in relationship to gravity and addresses soft tissue imbalance and limitations in the body to get you moving better and to free you from stuck movement patterns.

What to Expect:

You should expect a minimum of 90 minutes for your first session but, let's be real, I almost always go over on time in the first session.   This session will include a visual scan of your body as well as movement analysis and listening to YOUR input as to what you think needs to be addressed.  This type of work, like all bodywork, is not done to you, it is done with you and your input is vital to the process

  • Viewing clothes should be worn at each session.  Think two-piece bikini, sports bra and running shorts, boxers, or gym shorts.  If you have long shorts on you will be asked to pull them up expose your hip bones and entire leg, so looser is better for shorts.

  • For movement analysis you will be moving around in various positions, such as a squat, deadlift, lunge, or quadruped, street clothes are fine for this, please just wear loose and comfortable clothing you can move around in.

  • Pictures may be taken to track progress of your sessions.  These will not be shared with anyone or used for marketing without your permission.

  • Sessions are 90 minutes, this gives time for the work as well as movement education as needed.

  • Unlike other forms of fascial manipulation where you are expected to sign up for 10 or 12 sessions, I start with 5 sessions with re-evaluation at the end of the 5th session to see if we're both happy with that as a stopping point.  We decide together where treatment goes from there.

  • After your Final Evaluation you are welcome to come back for tune-up sessions.  Those can be as short as 30 minutes or as long as 2 hours and depend on your goals.
